PROF. FRIEDRICH-WILHELM MEINECKE – Memorial Award
of the German Speaking Medical Society for Paraplegia (DMGP)
 

The German Speaking Medical Society for Paraplegia announces the aforementioned award for the year 2018.

Friedrich-Wilhelm Meinecke MD PhD was head of the Spinal Cord Injury Centre of the BG Unfallklinik Hamburg until 1988. He was founding and honorary member of the DMGP as well as Society Medal Holder of the ISCoS. Prof. Meinecke died at the age of 89 in 2012.

In his honour and memory his daughters Claudia Meinecke MD and Jutta Braun-Meinecke donated the amount of € 10.000 to the DMGP. In accordance with the extended board of the DMGP € 500 will be awarded each year as Prof. Friedrich-Wilhelm Meinecke Memorial Award until the DMGP meeting in 2024 to the authors of the two best abstracts of each annual meeting. It is expected that the authors submit a paper regarding their scientific work to Spinal Cord for publication.

The abstract submission for the annual meeting implies the application for the Prof. Friedrich-Wilhelm Meinecke Memorial award. The abstracts are evaluated anonymously by the extended board of DMGP.

The awards ceremony takes place at the annual DMGP meeting. The personal presence of the laureate or a representative of the working group of the award winner is required.
